Elster Gas North America Announces Integration Plans
Elster Gas North America will be moving the Remanufacturing meter operations from Cambridge Ontario to Elster American Meter in Nebraska City and the meter services operation will move to a new expanded facility Elster Meter Services in Cartersville, GA . This will provide for an improved cost structure, close proximity to key engineering services, parts and scheduling resources.
Elster Gas North America part of Elster Group, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of highly accurate, high quality, integrated metering and utilization solutions, has announced plans to improve its business operations. These plans aim to ensure that the whole company has a long-term future and that its competitive edge is strengthened. This will primarily be achieved through operational integration, molding individual units and the fragmented structure into a single company with a shared culture. Parallel to this, and over the next several months, Elster Gas North America will enhance business processes across Production, Design & Development, Raw Material Purchasing, Human Resources and Information Technology.
Elster, which operated as Ruhrgas Industries until 2005, now faces an increasingly competitive marketplace combined with rising costs. A thorough analysis of 56 Elster sites located in 30 countries on five continents with over 9,000 employees, showed that only by improving the production network and numerous process enhancements, could the company drive greater efficiency in its operations as the market leader to improve overall customer satisfaction.
As part of the planned integration measures, Elster Canadian Meter will remain a subsidiary of Elster American Meter with sales and support staff remaining in Canada and will continue to provide the high levels of service and support customers have come to expect over its past 107 year history.
